Investing in tourism and creative industries

Some regions are focusing on the development or promotion of creative and tourism industries in response to fossil fuel phase out. This adaptive and potentially transformative strategy is not as common as the establishment of non-energy industries, but appears in regions characterised by younger populations, or by potential tourist destinations. These activities are valuable strategies for transforming regional economic activities and avoiding outmigration.

These strategies, which are often formulated in early to mid-transition stages, are generally implemented in advanced transition stages.
