Interview on the future of Northern Bohemia
In December 2021, university professor, Michal Koleček, was interviewed about the economic and cultural future of northern Bohemia. Professor Koleček, also the Director of the House of Culture in Ústí nad Labem, argued that the region should focus on innovative and creative industries, and on education.
This adaptive and potentially transformative rhetorical strategy represents an attempt to shift thinking about the economic future of the region and to emphasise transition options beyond heavy industry. Creative industries in the Czech Republic, including the House of Culture, are supported through EU funding.
