Just Transition Mechanism information meeting in Slovakia
A meeting on support for the transformation of the Upper Nitra Region
In 2020, the government held a public meeting to inform the public about the Just Transition Mechanism and other tools that will be used to support projects in the Upper Nitra region from 2021-2027. Over 100 members of the public attended the meeting in Prievidza. This was a continuation of the development of the larger Action Plan for the Upper Nitra – a post-coal plan approved in 2019 and developed with strong citizen and cross-sector participation including through roundtables and various locally-led working groups.
At the 2020 meeting, politicians from local and national levels, business leaders, and national and international experts discussed funding mechanisms and the Action Plan with citizens. The focus was to move from the citizen-led Action Plan, to citizen-led projects.
