Regio-Twin program in Germany
The German government established the Regio-Twin project to pair municipalities together to encourage cooperation on climate action. The program paired municipalities with more experience in climate action with places seeking to undertake more climate action. As part of this program, the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia is paired with Munich. The municipalities were supposed to work together for one year on issues of climate protection, energy transition and sustainability.
This was an adaptive strategy meant to transfer knowledge about best practices and ideas between municipalities
