Alteo’s battery energy storage at the Kazincbarcika Heating Power Plant (Hungary)
In June 2021, the Hungarian group Alteo began a battery energy storage project. They plan to build a second energy storage facility with a capacity of 5 MW at the Kazincbarcika Heating Power Plant. The industrial group has already implemented a 6 MW energy storage facility in Budapest, in the area of the Zugló Heating Power Plant, in 2018.
Earlier, in December 2017, the Hungarian government announced its support for plans for the Japanese GS Yuasa Corporation to build a battery plant in Miskolc. The plant, ultimately expected to employ about 400 people, started operations in October 2019. Kuala Kft., supplies geothermal energy to the plant.
